About Me:

My name is AJ Hanley, I have been a personal trainer since 2015, and have been an independent business since late 2017. 

 

I have always been passionate about health and exercise from my early motivation of wanting to get stronger for my high school basketball team to fast forward 10 years later to wanting to be able to keep my body moving well into my older ages.

​

My philosophy now is very much one of balance in all parts of life. I realize that the physical aspect of health pales in the comparison to the mental side of it. Not only do I want to help you reach your physical goals, I want to help you change the entire way you think about exercise, fitness, and nutrition. 

​

I currently train and teach conditioning and strength classes out of Primetime Martial Arts & Fitness located in South San Jose on the intersection of Cottle & Santa Teresa at 6179 Santa Teresa Blvd, San Jose, CA 95123

     I understand that it can seem overwhelming and even intimidating when you first begin your workout regime, especially at big commercial gyms. My hope is to get you comfortable in the gym by teaching you foundational movements that will not only improve the way you look, but the way you function in everyday life. On top of that I will educate you on why we do certain movements and what exactly they are strengthening/improving. This will empower you with a tremendous sense of confidence, so that when you go to the gym by yourself you will have the knowledge to go in and give yourself a great workout wether you are following a program of mine, another coaches, or just going in and making a workout of your own.

 

     My hopes in working with you is that you will gain all that I've have written about above plus more especially when it comes to the mental aspect of training. Like I said before the gym can be a very intimidating place especially when it comes to weight training, whether it stems from a prior experience that didn't go well or feeling inadequate compared to other gym goers. While resistance training is of course a top priority when looking to increase your health, the core of it all is movement itself. While I don't expect everyone to love lifting weights and gaining strength specifically, I do expect you to at least learn to move your body everyday. This can vary from short 10-15 minute walks throughout the day, taking yoga or pilates classes, bike riding, or any of the numerous physical activities that you can choose from, as long as it's something you enjoy. One of my go to sayings is "Movement is medicine". So by any means necessary get out there and move that body! ....and hopefully you decide to build some strength on top of it.
